Columbia Sussex purchased the
Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in Fort Myers, Fla. from Sanibel II Limited Partnership for an undisclosed price on Aug. 10.
Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman brokered the transaction, which represents the first hotel transaction for the newly-formed firm.
The 385-room resort is located on 85 acres in the Punta Rassa peninsula. It features 45,000 sq. feet of conference space, a 40,000 sq. foot fitness center and spa, five clay tennis courts, a private beach area, a 19-slip marina, and seven food and beverage outlets.
The resort, which opened in 1989, was developed by
Liberty Mutual Insurance Corp..
The resort underwent a $40 million, 18-month repair and upgrade following the damage that was caused by Hurricane Charley in Aug. 2004.
Fort Mitchell, Ky.-based Columbia Sussex boasts a portfolio of over 80 hotels and casinos in 30 states.
