11/19/2007Seattle's Benaroya acquires tech campus in nearby Puyallup

Seattle-based
Benaroya Cos. purchased the 92-acre office and technology campus in Puyallup, Wash., from Microchip Technology Inc. for $30 million.
NAI Puget Sound Properties Arie Salomon and Jeff Forsberg represented both the buyer and seller.
Microchip Technology Inc. bought the complex in 2000 for $80 million from Matsushita Corp., which makes electronics under the Panasonic brand. It had been dormant since 1998.
The office and technology campus is situated in Puyallup, Wash., about 35 miles south of Seattle and ten miles southeast of Tacoma. It features seven building and 710,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space.
According to a report in the
Tacoma News Tribune, Benaroya hopes to divide the site up into smaller parcels and sell them off to technology companies.
Benaroya Companies is a private real estate and venture capital investment and management firm in Seattle.
NAI Puget Sound's
Forsberg is a principal and broker with the firm. He was nominated as a finalist for Industrial Broker of the Year in 2005. Forsberg holds both a business and law degree.
Solomon is a principal and broker with NAI Puget Sound. A seventeen year veteran of the commercial real estate business, he's been nominated for Industrial Broker of the Year four times, winning in 1998. Solomon holds a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Washington.
